Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RM&A) Support
NAVSEA
SOW:
This
functional area consists of applying engineering,
scientific, and analytical disciplines to ensure that systems and platforms
RM&A requirements are integrated with the system design, development and
life cycle sustainment resulting in warfighting capabilities
that function effectively when required and that detection and correction of
design deficiencies, weak parts, and workmanship defects that affect functionality
are implemented.
What:
ITE
will provide physics based modeling services and software tools, applying
engineering, scientific, and analytical disciplines to ensure that systems and
platforms RM&A requirements are integrated with the system design, development
and life cycle sustainment .
How:
- ITE
will draw on its experience in supporting NAVSEA, Carderock ( Philadelphia
) and ONR in creating advanced modeling techniques for the design, verification
and validation of designs based on current work on-going with ONR and its
Ship Smart System Design (S3D) program.
-
ITE will use physics modeling and engineering analysis services to complement
the engineering efforts of NSWC and their support contractors. This obviates
the requirement that NSWC purchase and maintain software, though they may.
The work can be provided quickly on site but, even more effectively be performed
by ITE off-site as was done on the LPD17 Program where nine major vital systems
were modeled and analyzed using ITE services.
-
Additional services can include structuring the physics models to support
IV&V, dock & sea trials as well as live fire testing.
