Training Support
NAVSEA
SOW:
This
functional area consists of applying the engineering
and analytical disciplines required to ensure that the warfighter and technical
support community is provided with adequate instruction including applied exercises
resulting in the attainment and retention of knowledge, skills, and attitudes
regarding the platforms, systems, and warfighting capabilities they operate
and maintain.
What:
ITE
Team will
- provide
physics based modeling services and software tools, applying the engineering
and analytical disciplines required to ensure that the warfighter and technical
support community is
- provided
with comprehensive simulation based instructional environment including applied
exercises,
- resulting
in the attainment and retention of knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding
the platforms, systems, and warfighting capabilities they operate and maintain.
How:
- ITE
Team will draw on its experience in supporting NAVSEA (PMS430), NSWC Carderock
(Philadelphia) / 3eTI, and ONR in creating and adapting physics-based modeling
techniques for the design, verification and validation of designs. The Team
has current work on-going with NSWC and ONR and its Ship Smart System Design
(S3D) program creating a advanced design modeling environment for Advanced
Electrical Power (AEP) and Electrically Re configurable Ships (ERS) in support
of the DD(X) and other emerging electric ship programs.
-
ITE Team will use physics modeling and engineering analysis services to complement
the engineering efforts of NSWC and their support contractors as described
below. This can obviate the requirement that NSWC purchase, maintain software
or train personnel in modeling techniques, though they may. ITE Team can provide
these services, if required.
-
ITE Team work can be provided on-site or, often more effectively, the work
can be performed by ITE Team off-site as was done for the LPD17 Program where
nine major vital systems were modeled and analyzed using ITE Team services,
or where the NSWC HPAC model was built off-site.
-
ITE Team is the only team that has converted and demonstrated the use of actual
physics analysis flowsheets used for HM&E system verification of LPD17,
DDG51 systems into a full ship simulation for Human Systems Integration (HSI)
objectives of embedded crew training.
- Under
a NAVSEA PMS430 SBIR Ph2, Team created a Total Platform Training
System the provided a real-time model in first principle physics
for engineering and damage control systems train tied to EOSS and CSOSS
objectives.
- Under
a NSWC / 3eTI contract, Team created a Part-Task Operator Training
System for an FFG7 class High Pressure Air Compressor (HPAC).
A physics model of the HPAC unit was created to support testing the interface
to the ships ICAS equipment. The same model was give an instructor station
and "operating panel" for crew operator / maintainer training.
it would be possible to model the entire ship using this same technology.
- Please
see a description
of COTS training systems software at SIMSMART
TPTS
-
The captured physics models that were used to create the real-time simulation
for engineering and damage control training were originally created for ship
HM&E design analysis. These models can also be used for:
- battle
decision aids,
- distance
support and
- future
ShipAlt modernization.
